What’s new in Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series? Hi, I’m Jonathan (aka Tommy) and I’ve been a game designer at Telltale for over 3 years now. I lead our single player content team and have been working on Guardians of the Galaxy since the beginning of the year. If you’re a (gamer) you might have seen the recent dev insight video we released, or you might have already seen the trailer we released at SDCC.
The Marvel, Guardians of the Galaxy, is a movie that came out in 2014, a year that was filled with sequels and reboots. This movie was different, it was something different and awesome. In this movie, we saw the Guardians of the Galaxy, a group of misfits, all from different planets and backgrounds, banding together to save the universe.
As any Marvel fan will know, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is only a few weeks away from release, and as usual, Sony and Marvel have released a new Marvel/Sony Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Dev Insights video.
With the game’s newest developer insight video, learn more about the inspiration behind the character design of Square Enix and Eidos-Guardians Montréal’s Marvel’s of the Galaxy.
The team set out to ensure that the character designs for Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot matched influence from the larger Marvel world with the game’s unique storyline. Easter eggs from the art director’s youth have been incorporated in Star-Lord in particular.

According to Bruno Gauthier-Leblanc, Art Director of Eidos-Montréal:
“When creating the Guardians, we wanted to make sure they stayed faithful to the story we’d created while still looking like the Guardians of the Galaxy fans know and adore. To create fresh graphics for this colorful and dysfunctional family, we blended inspiration from Marvel comic history with our own character backstories, infusing each Guardian with unique design elements that also connect into gameplay.”
On October 26, 2021, the game will be released on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and streaming through GeForce NOW. On the same day, a cloud version of the game will be released on the Nintendo Switch.
