The End of Dragons expansion for Guild Wars 2 has a release date: February 28th. Yes, they’re going to make February without further delay, which means we’ll be at Cantha in 28 days. Because you’ve been waiting for it since the big announcement last year, MMO fans already know about the nine new elite specs, boats, fishing, and siege turtles, but seeing the official pitch is sweet.

“End of Dragons” is the game’s third expansion, and it will transport players to Cantha, a strange land steeped in mystery and intrigue for more than 200 years. On their adventure, players will learn about the strange material known as dragonjade and its capacity to fuel Canthan civilization’s unique technologies. Fishing and skiffs – multiplayer sailing boats for groups of five players – have been added to the game’s horizontal advancement choices, while the game’s first co-operative combat mount, the siege turtle, will bring new gameplay opportunities for navigation and fighting with a companion. Guild Wars 2’s distinguishing large-scale, open world events will return across the game’s vast new map regions, enabling near infinite replayability, in addition to nine new elite specializations that modify the basic gameplay of each of the game’s professions. In addition to the new gameplay options, a whole new tale will lead players on an epic journey across the continent, introducing new characters to the Guild Wars 2 cast who will shed light on some of Tyria’s deepest mysteries.”

ArenaNet has released a new trailer to commemorate today’s announcement.

Of course, pre-orders for the game are still available in three different bundles. The basic buy-in is $29.99, with extras like a character slot, cosmetic stack, and gem stack costing up to $79.99. If you require End of Dragons as well as the previous expansions, Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire, there are collection packages available, which range in price from $49.99 to $99.99 and include essentially the same items.
