Final Fantasy XIV’s Naoki Yoshida has confirmed that work is already being done on the story for 7.0 and that players will be able to see changes immediately. This year will also mark the 10th anniversary of Final Fantasy XI, so it’s possible we’ll get a surprise announcement at this event.
Are you prepared for the next Final Fantasy XIV expansion? Well, slow down there, chief, because you’ve got almost a year to wait for that, and we haven’t even gotten an indication as to what the title will be. However, this isn’t deterring the FFXIV team; in an interview with NME, producer and director Naoki Yoshida said that the team has already completed the writing for the 6.x patch series and is already working on 7.0:
The major scenario in the Patch 6.x series has already been finished, and its ending has been chosen. Script-related work for multiple patches, as well as work on the comprehensive storyline, are now under progress. In fact, I’m already figuring on what I want 7.0 to be like. Final Fantasy XIV is a difficult game…
Obviously, there’s still a long way to go until players experience all of those plot advancements, but there’s less time to wait for the game’s Island Sanctuaries to be implemented. Yoshida also talks about this highly awaited feature, saying that it’s unlike anything the team has done before and that he hopes players love it when it comes. Fans may expect further previews when the game receives its next live letter from the producer, so stay tuned; in the meanwhile, you can check out the interview for a behind-the-scenes look.
