Dune: Spice Wars is an unbelievably addictive game where you compete with players for water, a scarce resource in the desert. But there’s one problem- if you die, your items are gone and you’ll have to start all over again from scratch. So how do we make sure that everyone can play? We could just lock it down so only people who know their way around the code can enter but then what happens when someone wants to send feedback or even release a patch themselves?
The water extractor in Dune: Spice Wars is one of the game’s most powerful structures, and one you’ll want to construct as you develop. The quantity of water available has an influence on your capacity to deploy soldiers and capture villages, both of which are important aspects of ruling Arakkis.
The water extractor in Dune: Spice Wars may be located in the economics part of a settlement’s constructions menu, but you won’t be able to install it straight immediately.
That’s because it’ll be hidden below tier 2 research when you first start the game. Water Sellers Contacts is the name of the technology used by the Atreides, and it is located in the top right (green) section of the advancements tree.
The water extractor structure in Dune: Spice Wars also has to be put in its own specific unique Polar Sink zone, which you’ll have to find and acquire by scouring the map using Ornithopters.
Once you’ve met these requirements, be sure you can pay the building and maintenance expenditures in order to reap the water advantage. This is how they appear:
- Cost of construction: 204 Plascrete
- 2.96 days for construction
- Maintenance: 12 Solari, 12 Plascrete
- +50 water effects
Needless to say, that’s a significant amount of water, and most factions will gain substantially from it. As the game goes, you’ll need more and more of the valuable resource to build and sustain an army that keeps you in the game.
You won’t be able to build Dune: Spice Wars’ water extractor if you play as Fremen, at least not during the game’s early access period.
That’s all you need to know about the water extractor in Dune: Spice Wars, including how to create it and why it’s necessary. Check out our observations of the game’s early access release build and what we know about multiplayer support for further information.
